Nice anti-chafing. I’ve been using old fire hose but leather would be dreamy. It is shocking how quickly lines can chafe. If I hadn’t had the fire hose on my mooring lines in Hurricane Henriette in 2007, the lines would have chafed all the way through.

Yes I know! Fire-hose really is fantastic chafe-gear. If you’re looking for cheap leather for smaller projects, consider looking for old leather garments at second-hand stores. Sometimes you can find some decently thick stuff for a good price!
